Monthly Stipends

Fifteen women received stipends of $150-$315 per month. These women also received $100 gift cards for Hanukkah and $100 supermarket gift cards for Passover. Financial updates are required for all stipend recipients midway through the funding cycle.

Emergency Response Systems

Fifty-one frail, elderly women gained peace of mind with the connection of a personal emergency response system to their telephone equipment, enabling them to remain safely in their homes. Five calls for assistance were placed. When a client pushes her call button, FHBS is notified, and in turn, alerts her care manager.

Pharmacy Stipend Program

Twenty women received $50 or $100 gift cards to a pharmacy of choice for a six to twelve-month period. The program runs in six-month cycles, and most participants are continued for a second cycle on the recommendation of their case managers. This program was initiated in memory of our board member emerita, Lillian Tabas.
